North Shore Writers Festival
April is turning out to be quite a month for a writers’ festival and more. The month begins with my book launch of The Rubber Fence at the Campbell River library on Vancouver Island and continues at the Lynn Valley library for the North Shore Writers Festival.
At the North Shore Writers’ Festival, I’m on a panel with Martin Crosbie, author, of the Amazon bestseller, How I Sold 30,000 ebooks on Amazon’s Kindle and Rod Baker, author of Constant Traveller.
We’ll be talking about How To Become A Successful Indie Author. Other offerings at this writers festival are from comic strip creator, Lynn Johnston; Nisga’a Author, Jordan Abel; and novelist Camilla Gibb. For more about this lineup at the North Shore Writers Festival, check here.
International Twitter Chat
Then, on April 21 at 3 pm EST, I’ll be taking part in an International LIVE Twitter Chat hosted by Porter Anderson for Self-e Library Journal. Authors, Roz Morris and Liza Perrat will also be available to chat. You can follow along and ask your own SELF-e questions using the hashtag #SELFeChat
Book Reading and Signing
I’ll be at the Library in Courtenay on Vancouver Island, talking about my new novel, The Rubber Fence and my self-publishing journey. I’ll also be doing a book reading and signing.
April does bring showers, showers of wonderful experiences where I get to meet other writers and readers who share my love of the written word. And they all take place in one form or another in libraries.
Since I’ll be away from home during my Twitter Chat and have no internet in our city retreat, I’ll be doing it from one of my favourite places, the West Vancouver library.
A side note here: When I was a young mother, and my husband had returned to university to pursue his Master of Social Work, I worked part-time as a research librarian at the University of Manitoba. Loved it, as I was surrounded by books. So you can understand why I’m enthralled with all of the above.
Would love to see or hear from you at any of the above. Thoughts and comments always welcome.
Cheers for libraries…and you!
Thanks, Jo. Talk went very well. What a great library in North Vancouver. Happy that libraries are still thriving.
How fun! Looks like a lovely library and sounds like you had a grand time!
Julia, it was fabulous. Great turnout. I hope to write a bit about the other presenters as well. Felt very honoured to be part of the writers festival, sponsored by both North and West Vancouver libraries.
Glad your library and release events turned out so well. I’ll definitely be checking out the Twitter chat. See you there!
Thanks JP. It’ll be fun to have a familiar twitter pal on the chat. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Diana, Congratulations on the appearances! …. And echoing Jo’s comment: many cheers for the libraries!
