Filming the Salton Sea is an ambitious undertaking but the talent involved is exceptional. Each member of the film crew is driven by their passion and commitment to making an indie film with high production values.
Our grandson, Michael Stevantoni, is one of these talents and the director of this feature. He’s proven his abilities time and again with the various awards he’s won at festivals for the short films he’s directed.
Michael’s now 20, a film student at Dodge College, Chapman University, in California, USA. SALTON SEA is his first feature film, to be shot this summer in the California desert. He’s written a fabulous script, adapted from some short stories by George McCormick, and compiled a talented film crew.
Europeans and Canadians support their artists, but in the USA, you have to scratch at whatever you can to realize your artistic dreams.
Since he’s living and learning in America now, he’s hoping to get others on board who can help fund this project. To find out more about his vision, his incredible team of indie filmmakers and the book that inspired the story, go here.
I am beyond excited for him and the other talent involved. They are all working hard to make this film come to fruition.
Here’s a taste of what they hope to do.
The care they’ve taken to date is evident on their Kickstarter page.
If the project interests you, think about contributing to help these young filmmakers tell a story that’s worth telling on film.
That’s wonderful! I’m proud of him too! Wish you all the best.
Thanks, Julia. Quite amazing. How he’s just a little boy not that long ago. And now, he’s a young man pursuing his dreams. We’re very proud of him, too. It takes a lot of passion and determination to make it as an artist today, whether it’s in writing, filmmaking, painting, etc. etc. We’re hoping for the best.
All the best to him! I know you are very proud of him for following his passion. He must have some of his grandmother in him.
Thanks, Jo. He certainly has the passion. Since he was 6, he knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. A film director. How many of us know that? I’ve done so many things in my life, searching for the occupation that fit. But back then, it was about being practical. Ha.
